Hydraulic Oil

Hydraulic oil is essential for any and all hydraulic applications which can include; excavators, backhoes, hydraulic breakers, industrial machinery and power steering systems to name a few. The function of the oil is used to create power, however there are a number of other equally important functions. The oil is used to transfer the heat created from the machine and sends it through the oil as opposed to being transferred through the machine parts themselves causing them to heat up leading to premature damage and wear. The oil is similarly used to create a seal in the hydraulic piston improving pump efficiency.

Hydraulic oil has changed greatly from it’s beginnings in ancient Egypt where only water was used. Mineral oil replaced water as it was more effective due to its innate lubrication properties.
